So, here is what i have been able to reasearch on my own. NP8130: It has a matte screen which as i understand is good for photoshop/graphics stuff. NP8150: Glossy screen, upgradeable gpu. What's holding me back is that they don't work with Nvidias Optimus yet (a driver update might help?) which would help battery life. Also: The NP8130 has the Intel Huron River HM65 chipset. The NP8150 and NP8170 have the Intel Huron River HM67 chipset.
With the QM67 coming out on the 2nd. I don't actually know how big a deal this stuff is, about the HM65 vs 67 or QM, maybe someone can enlighten me?
Any advice, which type of screen i should want, does one preform better than the other. Should either work with Optimus, either now or in the future? If this will never work with Optimus, will sager come out with one that will? Is this something worth waiting on? Outside of the glossy vs matte screen, i don't know which one is better, but i do know that while on sale, the P8130 looks like a better deal. Sorry for the length of this =p, thanks for reading! I can wait several months for something that's 'around the corner' just fine.
My budget is from 1200-1500, i can be a little flexible. I'm going to be mostly playing games like WOW/D3, a bit of COD and L4D2. Ill also maybe take it to school with me/ class. I'd likely be happy with a 15.6 inch or a 17inch either way, and am open to different laptop choices. Should either work with Optimus, either now or in the future? I have glossy and matte. Glossy makes the colors pop and is all around awesome, except for one thing. You will never be able to go into the sunlight or for the matter any light at all. Matte you can go into the sun with, but compared to glossy it just seems so dim. Those Models are never going to have Optimus. Originally Posted by emc2;12159635 Wherever did you read that it has a matte screen?
Under the screen it says: 15.6” FHD 16:9 LED Backlit Wide screen (1920x1080) Super Clear Matte Type Screen Thanks for the reply, it was very helpful! Of the two, i'm going to have a hard time choosing. How significant is the CPU on the 8150 vs 8130?
I ask because the 8130 comes with 4 gigs more ram standard, and a larger hard-drive standard, so unless the glossy + CPU difference is significant, i think ill be going with the 8130 ^^ I'm checking out the two that you just linked now. Last week when I checked the config pages there were no matte options. I would go for the 8130, The only benefit of having an Extreme CPU is OC'ing by raising the multi, but the XM CPU's go for $800+ which would be over budget (plus it has more RAM as standard and the bigger HDD). The difference in price between the two of them is 100 bucks =p. I'm actually leaning towards the 8150, think the glossy might be nicer. For an extra 20 bucks the HDD is the same, and as far as ram i could upgrade it cheap enough (even off newegg/amazon) Thanks a lot for the help EMC ^^ + rep.
I think you should go with the 8130 mainly because of the matte screen, its a laptop your gonna end up taking it to a room or outside where the light is bad eventualy even if you think you wont trust me lol and glossy is just a fingerprint magnet i cant stand wiping my screen all the time, and from a statement in xotic pcs review of the 8150 he said the matte screen looked alot nicer and more crisp. Either way there both good laptops but i have to resist the gtx 485m because of battery life as i will be taking this to school with me (at least they have outlets in the desks lol) Im prolly gonna get the 8130 soon ill let you know how it goes.
