Hp Laserjet 4 Plus Driver For Mac
I suspect your printers IP address is not configured properly. My LaserJet 4 Plus worked best with a fixed (static) IP address set through the printers configuration menu. Please follow the following steps to set up your printers network card: If your modem or router permits to configure the IP address for the attached devices, please disable DHCP for the printer and configure the same IP from above as fixed IP for the printer. After that you should be able to configure your printer either through Mints printer configuration (-) or hplip. Hello, Jlvs2run. I would not be amazed if the same installation steps applied to your HP printer that apply to mine. Here, please:.
The official HP installation instructions are here: About the printer IP setup: You might follow DanielR's advice. My approach was a bit different: My printer received its wireless IP address through DHCP from my Fritz!Box DSL router. Next I told the Fritz!Box to assign the same IP address to this printer in future too.
In effect, the printer has got a fixed IP address now. When configuring the Linux printer software, I told it to detect the printer manually by entering exactly this IP. The printer was detected without any problem. Hi karlchen, I was assuming Jlvs2run is not very familiar with IP in general. Therefore I was trying to determine which IP range his network is using to help him along with picking the right IP and configuring the printers network card. Nevertheless, on these old LaserJets you need to print a test page to display the current IP.
Furthermore, I tried to use my LaserJet 4 Plus with the option BootP enabled (IP assigned via DHCP) and it didn't work (tied it on 3 different router). Setting a fixed IP for the printer on the printer and in the router always worked for me. I've copied the instructions to a file, and changed IP addresses to the following: IP address: 192.168.1.1 subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 def.
Gateway: 192.168.1.255 Syslog server is unspecified, and Idle timeout is 20 seconds. 1) Attempts to print a page from the current Mint Laserjet 4 plus setup were not successful. 2) I removed HP-Laserjet-4-Plus from configure printers, and tried to set it up again but no printer options are shown. 3) I typed hp-setup in the terminal, selected network/ethernet, and the following messages were shown: HPLIP cannot detect printers in your network. No devices found. Have you installed CUPS and Gutenprint from the repositories at some point in time? Could you please also explain how you have tried to add the printer using Mint's configure printers.
The usual procedure for Mint's printer configurator would be to open the Printing Application from the Administration menu. Then press the Add button. The 'New Printer' window should appear. Pick 'Network Printer' on the left hand side and the list expands. Choose 'Find Network Printer'. On the right hand side you should find 'Host:' and a field to enter data.
Enter your printers IP address (192.168.1.1) into this field and press the 'Find' button next to it. The appearance should change and a new field with a 'Port Number:' should appear. Press the 'Forward' button at the bottom of the window and in the next window you can choose the driver.
Pick 'Select printer from database' and choose the manufacturer (HP) from the list below. Press 'Forward'. Now go to 'Model' on the left hand side and pick your printers model and choose the driver from the right hand side and press 'Forward'. The rest should be self explanatory. Only enter a printer name and leave the rest unchanged. Press 'Apply' and you should be finished. If all went smoothly until now, you should have a printer listed in your Printing Application.
Right click and pick 'Properties' to configure your printers setup and installed options. Could you please post the output of the nmap command sudo nmap -sP -oG- 192.168.1.255/24.
It should list all devices connected to your network and I would like to see if there are any oddities in your network setup. BTW, the nmap command has nothing to do with setting up your printer yet. It will simply reveal the network environment in which the printer will eventually work. 192.168.1.2 is apparently the IP of your notebook/PC.
Your printer should certainly not have the same IP as any of your other devices connected to your network (including your PC). And finally, could you please tell me which brand and model your modem/router is. The ethernet cord is plugged in to the printer and modem, and the printer is on for all testing.
The Nettalk ethernet cord is plugged in, but not connected unless also plugged into the strip (as below). I unplugged the Nettalk ethernet cord, moved the printer cord to the same socket, and the result is the same. # sudo nmap -sP -oG- 192.168.1.255/24 Starting Nmap 6.40 ( ) at 2016-06-02 08:36 PDT Nmap scan report for Broadcom.Home (192.168.1.1) Host is up (0.00029s latency).
